The music of Hugo Distler inspired this motet in honor of my mother. My intention was to write in a simple style that closely mirrors the meaning and sentiment of the well-known Beatitude text from Matthew 5. This piece, which alternates soloists and choir, should be sung with a flexible tempo and not strictly according to the metronome. The choir could be lightly doubled by keyboard, if needed.
