Piano Suite #2 (2022) 3.5’
The Piano Suite #2 is my musical reflection on the very unsettled year of 2020, when Covid and other disasters disrupted our lives and took so much from us.
Unsettled describes how we felt as the year unfolded and the pandemic loomed: restless, agitated, and unable to find repose.
Smoke in the Hills means alarm and dread for us who live in the American West. The music is jumpy and apprehensive.
Losses is a lament for all that was taken from us in that very bad year: contact with friends and loved ones, live performances – perhaps even our livelihood, our health, or the lives of dear ones.
Thankful, Nonetheless is a slowly-building hymn expressing thankfulness for all that remains and for blessings that endure.
