O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (2019, 1982) 4.5’
My arrangement of this familiar Advent hymn is, in turn, brooding, agitated, and dramatic. I think the cello part greatly enhances the drama and lyricism of the tune. The drama reaches its peak in the solo soprano verse, which begins with stormy clouds that are then dispersed by the light of Emmanuel’s coming.
SAB, soprano solo, cello, piano
A dramatic setting of this familiar hymn.
