This anthem, with lyrics by Dave Baldwin based on Isaiah 9, is very appropriate for the Advent season. My musical setting includes thematic references to Martin Luther’s iconic Advent hymn “Savior of the nations, come.” Isaiah 9 is the source of resounding phrases that have long inspired magnificent music: “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.” “For unto us a child is born… and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God…”
