My lyrics for this anthem address the subject of sadness and loneliness, which you may think is a “downer” theme for an anthem. But – let’s face it – many of the people around us, and many of those sitting in the pews on Sunday, do feel sad and lonely and would benefit from a word of encouragement. The message of this piece is that, no matter how “down” we feel, God has not abandoned us. God loves us, is concerned about us, and reaches out to us.
