In this lyrical, elegiac piece Dave Baldwin’s text pictures a peace memorial in some calm, remote outdoor location, where we gather “to celebrate what never took place”: a place where no one was wounded in battle or lost their life, or sang a battle hymn. This beautiful lyric contrasts the peaceful imagined setting with the far-away wars of which we are all too aware. What can we do, and how shall we respond in the cause of peace?
