These “appointed verses” for the Gospel reading and the Offertory are for the choir and congregation to sing at Easter Sunday worship service. They could also be used for the following Sundays of Easter season. In liturgical churches the appointed Gospel verse is sung before the reading of the Gospel lesson for the day. Each Sunday of the church year has its own appointed Gospel appointed verse, with the one for Easter being especially festive! The appointed Offertory verse is sung as the bread and wine for communion are brought forward.
