This piece tells the story of “anyone,” an Everyman figure living a life that goes unnoticed by others but that is filled with beauty and meaning. My setting of cummings’ beautiful poem alternates between fast, rhythmical narrative sections and slower meditations on life, death, and the passage of the seasons. This is a companion piece to “i am a little church.”
